THE INTERNATIONAL BIOMETRIC GROUP SURVEY RECENTLY REPORTED:

Biometric revenues are expected to grow from $399.4 million in 2000 and $523.9 million in 2001 to $1.9 billion in 2005.

Large-scale public sector biometric usage, currently 70% of the biometric market, will be surpassed by private sector deployments.

Biometric sales for PC/network access will reach $423 million in 2005.

The two industry verticals that will adopt biometrics most rapidly are financial and health care, with revenues increasing at average annual rate of 72% and 56% respectively.

    Initially, Washington County Hospital will deploy CIC’s Sign-it technology to facilitate and streamline the secure capture of electronic signatures of all employees.     The PruPower signature program was developed by E-Com Asia Pacific Pty Ltd., PruPower documents are created and managed in Lotus Notes, and presented on-screen for signing in Adobe Acrobat format. E-Com integrated the Handrwitten Digital Signature technology into Lotus Notes to provide a legally binding signature capability for paperless transactions. The digital insurance forms, including any file attachments, are signed with a pen-like stylus on a digitizer, the captured signature is unique to the document and can not be cut, copied or pasted into another document. Moreover, if the signed document is altered in any way, the signature automatically becomes invalidated and is visibly crossed out. Prudential agents also can use the technology to verify and sign sensitive e-mails, adding a new level of security to field communications.

    This strategic relationship calls for the integration of CIC's key input and security technologies with Symbian's EPOC platform. Together with Psion, the leading telecommunication manufacturers Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia have teamed up to form the Symbian alliance which is establishing EPOC as the standard platform for Wireless Information Devices (WIDs).   • Tennessee Valley Authority rolls out on an enterprise basis CIC product range
      The movement of paper documents and forms needed to collect signature approvals paces most business operations today. This requires a time-consuming set of processes and procedures including the costly circulation and storage of vast amounts of paper documents.
